I’ve been practising law for almost 40 years, but in my heart I’ve always been a writer. This site allows me to post articles and stories on subjects – and people – that pique my imagination.
Some people have asked about the underlying philosophy of my writing. I have for most of my life believed in the principle of Reinhold Neibuhr’s Serenity Prayer, although generally I prefer the earliest known version of it, from the Greek Stoic philosopher Epictetus:
“Make the best use of what is in your power, and take the rest as it happens. Some things are up to us and some things are not up to us.”
